Personally I don't care if the bottom feeders take the tfw's just keep them out of the patch. There is enough terrible drivers here already.

That's what happens post's get highjacked' my driving experience has mostly been around livestock and reefer I've tried various company's in southern alberta who just haul livestock south mostly running to Washington and Utah .....short hauls paying on percentage ' the problem in Alberta LMO's are taking longer to Apply for I've also contacted a major livestock hauler in Manitoba' same problem the backlog to Apply so that's why I decided to look at reefer companies yes your right Turk and trappers don't apply for LMO and only hire residents ' I tried trans x and bison there in the same position....as most companies the time it takes for cic to issue LMO's could be 3 or 4 months I've never hauled a skateboard oversized or tanks.... Thanks for everyone's comments

While I can't or won't speak for Nate, I doubt his problem is with foreign workers. It's more to do with David freaking Bradley, the Canadian Trucking Alliance and the bottom-feeder wannabe mega-carriers he represents. As a quick example, in 1979 I had a new 352 Peterbilt loaded to the teeth out the door for $53,000, a new Temisko 4 axle flatbed for $17,000, and I could spin a round from Hamilton ON to Montreal and back for an average of $1900/$2000. (roughly 800 miles). Fuel was $0.18/liter, licences and insurance set me back less than $6000/year, and life was good. Today? That Peterbilt is $155,000+, the trailer is north of $60,000, licence and insurance is closer to $14,000 and fuel is $1.35/liter.

And there are more guys doing that Hamilton/Montreal lane for $1600/$1800 than you can imagine. And a lot of real bottom feeders doing it for less. So as Nate said, a lot of guys (and I'm starting to be one of them) have rightly said there is no way in hell they're gonna work for less than minimum wage and have got out of the industry, and what talking head toadies like Dave freakin Bradley won't tell the public is that his bottom-feeder handlers have cut the rates so terribly bad while trying to beat each other up for that last load that the only way they can see daylight is to cry to the government that no one wants to be in trucking and they have to go overseas to fill seats, when the truth is that if rates had even modestly kept pace with inflation there would never have been a contrived driver shortage in this country.
