    Why would a veteran want to waste his benefits in an industry with 100 per cent turnover and wages that are no higher than they were 30 years ago ?

    Why would it be a waste? if I am driving for a company that has low pay for the first year, I would rather do it while making an additional $1,069 a month.

    It's better then not using my benefits at all and letting it go to waste..

    There are many technical schools where veterans with normal intelligence can earn the same benefits longer learning a real skill that will earn them better wages than an OTR driver . If the best you can do is train with a BFI do what you feel best but the low wage will be more than a year . Other sectors oF the industry don't have near the turnover OTR has . Drivers with decent carriers hang onto their jobs and there are few opportunities for OTR drivers with a year experience to be hired by a better carrier
