    lilrobby,

Yes, you can haul regional. The pay for regional, I believe, is about a dollar a mile plus FSC.

That's a $1.75 a mile out empty and back loaded. Plus extra deadhead back and forth home likely that $3.50 a mile is really $1.50 logging is no different from other segments, lots of cheap work out there. What Bill was likely describing to you were numbers to the truck well above that with all deadhead included, mines at 23%. But it takes more than just driving to get good rates, not everyone is cut out or can pull it off.

    rollin coal,

Don't understand 23%, are you a driver, looking for 75% O/O. To me % is a joke, how do you know how much the load really is, plus fuel ? My truck runs on miles, thats what I see on the dash.

I think what rollin meant was that his deadhead was 23% of his mileage.

Yeah 23% of those 46.5k miles were deadhead or 23 out of every 100 miles driven. Most times I don't know how much money is in a load that's going to be changing in the near future though. I do know exactly what the broker is paying, I negotiate that, and how much the company I'm leased to is getting. I'm not unhappy at all with the situation my truck moves for the rate I set. Percentage is the only way to truck. Mileage is a joke.

Terrible idea. One truck will not support 2 families. It also sounds like your finances are shaky already. You'll quickly go out of business instead of a slow bleed.
