Anyone know the size of side boxes they use under HS flatbeds?

I'm looking to put a side box under my 40ft flat deck to put all my binders and chains inside. The underframe boxes they sell at Tractor Supply or Northen tool are all 18" in height. If I used that size the box would be lower than the landing gears and side step so I think it would drag.

Are people using the 18" high boxes or are there shorter ones for sale I'm not finding?

This is the side box I had on the Loadmax. I want to say it was 48"L×14"H×14"deep.? I ordered this back in March of '14 so I'm not positive..

A quick search of the options menu LoadMax didn't show the depth or height, just said 48" side box. PJ said 45"×14" & Diamond C showed 42"×14"..

Humm do you ever drag it? looks a lot lower than your side step, but cant tell if it's lower than the landing gears. I think maybe my sidestep hangs lower because mine is the same height as the landing gears when up.

I lightly drug my sidestep on the driver's side my last trip out. I had to drive up a steep hill then had to turn left onto a street at the top and as I turned I could see the side step dragging a bit. I'm sort of worried about having the box that low because it likely would have dragged a bunch in that situation.

Oh I agree, its pretty dang low. Just dug around trying to find a decent pic of it.. Found a few more with box in them, but it's hard to tell from the angle. & the wagon seems to always cast a shadow making it hard to tell..

Box is definitely lower than the side step. My trailer was a few years older than when all the manufacturers started putting those nice deep, wide, serrated steps on them. For reference the 1st pic I posted, that's a 2" round amber light above the step.. My boot practically touched both sides when my foot was in the step.. lol

Actually I dont recall ever dragging the box itself, but did bottom out on the landing gear a time or 2.. Almost positive the gear was lower than the box. Not by much though..

Maybe if you installed the box directly in front of the tandems instead of just aft the gooseneck, it'd have less chance of dragging.? Not sure, just thinking out loud..

    A few more..

Yeah, I was thinking of maybe putting one behind the trailer axles. I'm putting 60" boxes on the truck but I hate to have to carry all the chains binders from the truck.
