Hi. I am a CDL-A driver since early 2013. For years now, I've wanted to become an owner/operator for the freedom, and no dispatcher baby sitting me. I have a spotless record - no citations, accidents, DUI's, DWI's, etc. Due to maintenance concerns/risks, I haven't purchased a truck. I'm wondering if there are any owner/operators with a good safety rating that would allow for me to lease on to their operating authority, and use any load boards with self-dispatch with a long-term Ryder, or Penske rental truck for an 8-10% weekly gross revenue fee? I'm an on-time driver with my pick-ups, and deliveries. I'm just looking for freedom with decreased maintenance risks. Let me know ASAP. Thanks!

The only issue I can think of would be the truck isn't in your name so how would you get insurance or pay the 2290.

I believe that the truck insurance would be included with the rental contract agreement. I could set-up all of the bookkeeping for the fees/taxes.

Whenever I rent a truck, they make me insure it for the current value.

I'm currently finishing up my 40,000 miles for driving school and have my CDL. Was looking for a similar situation if someone could take me on

the last 6 words in your 2nd sentence are, "and have no dispatcher babysitting me". So what about the broker babysitting you ? As in, constant phone calls or requiring to to check call ?

I wouldn't mind that at all. Currently, I work for a carrier where I speak to/deal with brokers on a daily basis.

Do they make you get an insurance policy on your own?

    Bakerman Thanks this.
