Yea i hear ya on that. Looks like I still may have a chance with FFE looks like the trick is to get ahold of their Winter Haven recruiters instead of the one's in Texas, I'm gonna try again with them tomorrow and see what happens. Their terminal in Winter Haven is only like an hour and a half or so north of me . So hopefully my luck will change
Anyone on here from South Florida that can give advice?

There is a person from lantana currently in orientation.
Call swift again this week, things change fast around there.
Central refrigerated is running a ton of ads down there.
Where have you searched for training ?
Did you try conway. -
Get your CDL through an independent school. It will open things up for you a little bit. It is tough finding a job from down here though. When I first started the company I work for now was not hiring from my area. Most OTR companies hire off and on from down here. I ended up going with CRST. That worked out pretty good, but I did not get my CDL through them.

Years ago when I started I had that problem when I lived in Phoenix. This was before Swift got big or had their own training schools. I went to an independent school, got my CDL, and went to work for PST. They gave me a start and I moved back to California for more opportunities. I later moved here to Florida and companies and options became tight. Florida is a bad state in general for most trucking jobs. If I move to where I would like to live in California or North Carolina, it would open up a few more opportunities, but not many. Where you live can make a huge difference on opportunities.
I suggest when you talk to some of these recruiters with terminals a hour from your home to see if they can hire you and you park in their yards. That gets your foot in and then your dm will just send you home in the truck. That is what I did with Link. -
You're not screwed -- you just need to 1) Stop thinking about big companies, because they're full of empty promises and 2) find a guy like me, who hires for a company with five trucks. We are based in Virginia, but I just brought on a guy from Mississippi. Just like Enterprise Rent-A-Car, we picked him up and brought him to his truck. And now he's got a job with the miles that the big companies promise and never give. ... Problem with finding companies like ours is that we don't have the visibility that the big guys do.

I'm only working part time right now, 3 days a week. So money is tight for me right now or i'd attend a school other than one provided by one of the big companies. As a matter of fact their is a cdl center probably 20 mins north of me in west palm. But don't have the finances for it. So signing on with one of the bigger companies that will sponsor my training is about my only option at this point.Their are plenty of companies in Florida always hiring but you need experience. I can count about 4-5 companies within a 10 minute drive from my house that have rigs, they just want previous experience though.
