My wifes an italian chick from brooklyn...(she can kick you ### and then steal your truck..lol)...but she s too hi maintance for the road...and thats not a insult.she ll tell you that.

I can barely do a road trip to Vegas from Phoenix in the car with my other half. In the truck no way. Back in 03 my girlfriend at the time rode with me for 3 weeks. It went okay considering it was a vacation for her and it was my job being on the road. That's the longest I could have a non driving spouse with me.

 

Italian...Chick...Brooklyn...Wish I'd known someone like her when I was younger. I woulda learned how to kick butt much sooner.
But with the Irish in me, we mighta bumped heads :smt102

Too high maintenance?? Yeah. I miss the mani's and the pedi's and having someone else do my hair.
Too many sacrifices out here sometimes...even for the men.

DH & I took an 1800 mile road trip in my little yellow VW bug before we got married, so we knew we had a 50-50 chance of NOT killing each other, yukyuk.

 

I have my girlfriend out on the truck with me. While I'm driving she does remote accounting for several businesses, we also rent out the spare bedroom of the house to cover the costs of that. So basically our only big bills are the 4G thingy she uses for the computer , and food. Shes also great at being an extra pair of eyes and is able to look things up on the map or internet when I'm driving. We're able to take advantage of our combined income and minimal expenses to put away savings.
The transition can be difficult for some ladies. When my girlfriend started coming out on the truck she hated the reefer going off right behind the sleeper, and gross truck stop showers, and bouncing around on crappy roads. But all in all we're happy with our set up.

 

After our 3 week stint together I overheard my wife talking to a friend...

"Sure I saw a lot of the country, but it was like being in jail. We couldn't stop just anywhere. You know how HARD it is to park a truck to go SHOPPING!!!???... and don't get me started about all the dirty places we had to go and the shippers always being late... I sure have an appreciation for what truckers go through now..."

That made our three weeks together priceless.
