    Hi,

I found a decent truck that has a winch on the back. Can you also haul sand boxes and what ever else you want with that kind of truck? Would you also be able to put a wet line on the back next to the winch?

I am curious If this can be done.

    Thanks

You could also haul sand but that winch truck (guessing it’s a Western Star) will be pretty #### heavy.

Its a CAT truck, Like or hate them

    • GVWR: 60,320 lbs
      • FAWR: 14,320 lbs
      • IAWR: 23,000 lbs
      • RAWR: 23,000 lbs
    • Probably would be over weight pretty fast.

Those cat trucks were garbage. And sand hauling currently is garbage. Overtrucked and underpaid. The glory days of lucrative sand hauling are gone. I only do it because I live close to the action.

Only thing I know about the Cat (Sterling) trucks was, and I was told this, that they have crap front ends / front axle and they’re heavy. They’re made to be dump trucks.

I wouldn't touch a Cat truck with a 40 foot pole. Just a rebadged International with next to zero dealer support. Most Cat dealers won't touch them, the one I worked at didn't.

If it has a hydraulic winch (which is the kind that most winch trucks have) then there would be no need to add a wet kit, because it already has one.

But I'm not sure why you would want to add a wet kit for sand hauling.

Even if it was a gin pole on the back of a Western Star?
