It's when you get your CDL that the state really milks you... I had to renew my NC CDL in 2010... I dropped HAZMAT that year, but kept the tanker and doubles endorsements... that cost me $220 for an eight year license. Changing it over to a five year Colorado license after I moved was only $35.

I just renewed for 5 years with Haz, Doubles, and tank...total cost was $173 plus I have to get the prints renewed and give them another 10 to put the new date on the license next year...

Are they all five year licenses now, or is it still after a certain age where they do that?
I was grandfathered in before you had to go through the fingerprinting and TSA process to get a CDL, so if I'd kept hazmat, it would've been another $94 for an endorsement I just plain didn't use.

it's after a certain age you move to a 5 year license. That was their plan all along to get everyone on a 5 year license...

Either way, a CDL is NC is a bit on the pricey side.
Great.. now I'm thinking about NC again and how much I wish we had Cook Out and Bojangles here.

CDL application fee = $30 plus the $15 fee for the permit = $45

    newbietrucker007 Thanks this.
