Curious about Ipods. Interested in getting one, but don't have the funds to stock it up w/ music. Anybody have tricks of the trades? I don't want to use a shareware site like limewire or others. Is there any other way to get cheap/free music to fill ones Ipod these days?
I'm slowly working myself into the tech side of the world. LOL. My pops rags on me all the time, I'm 29 and only bought my first "new" laptop 2 months ago. He's 63 and has every freakin ipod known to man, but MIGHT and I seriously mean MIGHT have a total of 30 songs on all of them, LOL, however I know he has 1,000's of audiobooks and usually pays a nice penny for them.
Any ideas from users?
Anyone use Ipods???

I have a Zune, ripped all my CD's to my hard drive then copied over to the Zune. Assuming you can do the same with an Ipod.
-
Yup. I've already ripped over my cd's just debating on the ipod or sirrus/xm. Honestly before the sat radio was pretty decent to me, so I might just go that route again. Like I said, trying to step another foot into the tech world that has left me behind.
I did look at LimeWire and when you go to their site, all you get is the official notice that the government says no more dl's or distributing their program....lol, yet again...I'm behind the times and the government beat me to it! -
I think you can rip CDs to An ipod but i think you still have to have an iTunes account, and they have to be a QuickTime mp3. And be real careful on those sites like limewire, you'll ruin that new laptop real quick like..
-
Yeah, I did some quick research on the file shares that I know of and ALL of them are shut down. I'll prolly just go back with the sat radio as I still have the hardware, just need to call and activate it again.
Dad had mentioned that you can't transfer legit stuff from ipod to ipod, which doesn't make since if you buy a new one and want your old stuff on the new one, but I know with the recording software I use that when you buy the rights, its a one shot deal. Alot of these dl's lately are only good to register onceI guess the internet is slowly haulting all the freebees that people used to get from it.

You can get rhapsody for something like $10 a month and download unlimited amounts of music anything you want. You have to buy a converter that converts them into the correct format for you ipod and the converter can be bought for as little as $30.

I used my Ipod for a while, I just found it's easier to plug my laptop into my stereo. That way I have access to ALL my music, rather then just 5-10 gigs. Plus it's easier to get all the podcasts I listen to.
-
Amazon is a good place for unprotected MP3's. They now have a cloud player stream your music anywhere. You get 5gigs free, any if you by an album, you get ab upgrade to 20. Upload your own micic to it.

iPods are nice but a cheap solution could be to pick up a smart phone and DL a music ap. I use this method a lot at work when refueling trucks. It interrupts the music when ever I get a call...so no missed calls and only one device. Plus, so far it's been completely free.
