That's a pretty extreme case. Did he buy it new and neglect it or did he buy a used one and not really look it over so ended up with a truck needing a lot of work?

He bought it used and looked it over. It’s just been one of those trucks that was built on a Friday or a Monday I guess. Some trucks, no matter the year are just gonna be money pits.

Hubby just replace a air compressor part it took a whole 10 mins. If a shop had done it it would have been 1 hour and a half minimum. Also cost of part is alot cheaper when you get it yourself than shop mark up for it.

Your right Oscar that is nuts. But some people love to work on their trucks. If he's happy who is to say it's wrong. They could be lemon or just need TLC till all done right. Sometimes it's the shop that drivers are fixing up after. We are one case where it took 3 times for shop to get it right. If hubby had done it it would have been one and done.

The closest shop to me is a good hour and a half. By the time i drive it there and back i could have done whatever needed done, plus the additional time of sitting around white they do it or in the case of a big repair renting a car to get back home and then again to get back to the truck once its done. And then hope they did it right. Last time i trusted a ship they nicked the rear seal installing it. Spit out 3 gallons of oil on the way back to the house ruining the brand new clutch. So what should have been a one day job ended up being a freaking week plus an additional 600 for a new clutch.
