Its an isx. Didnt the early ones have a problem with cams detonating? Or was it the fuel pump?

Either way a 20 year old volvo..for 70 grand? That guys over due for a drug test.

It’s not that some of them are so high, it’s because it would be hard to go much lower.
Even a junk truck has pretty good scrap value.

Let's forget about ELDS - for the sake of argument.
question is whether spending over 60K on a 20 year old truck is justified, how much risk is involved, how much longer it will last, how many more inflames can be done to it, parts availability or even know-how. Are these newer trucks with 400 - 500k miles for 50K so mechanically impaired in comparison to 20 year old clunkers? Is there so little value left in them? The emission system shortens the life of the new engines by at least 1/3 before inframe, but still EFS/DPFs can be redone for up to 10k as new, then you'll do inframe at 800-900K. I am not sure what's better.

Anyone else noticed all of these 15+ year old large cars that somehow only managed to rack up 200k original miles or less popping up for sale. Been seeing quite a few lately where they are asking north of $100k. I'm sure there is a few legit ones out there but it makes you wonder.

I’ve noticed that too. If there’s no documentation validating the miles or work done then as far as I’m concerned it’s all lies.

Hold on a second. No one is suggesting you buy a clunker that's been neglected for 20 years. The target truck is the one that was bought new by an experienced owner operator that took care his truck but is now selling it because he is older and ready to retire.

    Agree with @spyder7723

A well maintained engine can be good for 1.5 million or more.

I think there were certain years that had issues with a ceramic fuel pump plunger that would basically wipe out the entire motor around 400k miles without warning

And rebuilt twice for an additional million each time.

I believe that is the case with late model Cummins. Like 2014 and newer. Not sure the exact range. Just know that's the whole reason I didn't buy a '14 T660.

DSK333, Derailed and henboy1 Thank this.
