I got pre hired through Mavericks and heard many good reviews about them. Would you start automatic transm. as a noobie driver?

I'm looking for a company that not only has auto transmissions, but also has trucks that are self-driven via satellite/GPS.

That way I can text while driving. I already text roughly 1500/day, and that's when I'm busy.

Nope, no auto for me, thank you. I like a truck that back's in a controlled manner without having to hold your mouth just right. Even flatbedding and few docks, I wouldn't want an auto.

The driving school I'm going to has an '08 T2000 auto. 4 weeks into the class and today was the first day any of us were allowed in it, just for straightline backing (so we weren't all waiting for turns on the other trucks). I gotta say I liked everything in the truck, 'cept the pushbutton PRND box below the parking/trailer brakes. Gimme a 10spd pls!

I'm able to back an automatic in a very controlled manner quite easily.

any manual I would prefer over auto. with autos you dont get the true power of the engine you have to wait for it to shift.
