My truck is a 99. No inspections yet.

With the year maybe. We have one o/o here that has a truck with a Model Year (Emissions date) of 1999 and a build date for the engine of 11/99. I have a feeling trucks are a lot closer on the actual real date than car "model years" are.

The key is an engine that was made before 2000. It does not matter what year truck is.

No inspections here. I avoid the DOT. I know where they work, and when they work in the area I run

    Well...NOT EXACTLY...lol

Just because someone claims it's a pre-2000 does not make it so.

When these engines go back to Detroit and get reman'ed, the factory is required to reset the "in-service-date" which, if it happens to occur after Year 2000, then it's no longer considered a "pre-2000"

A lot of people are going to be screwed by this little technicality.

Also to agree with you, OTOH, some people dont realize that its the engine year, not truck year that makes the difference

The in service date does not change the fact of when the engine was made. And does not change the engine cast numbers.

    Ok. Believe what you may.

I spoke with a senior Fitzgerald Glider contact about this issue as I'm in the process of helping my OTR buddy snag a Coronado with a pre-2000 motor.

Who I'm I to argue with people that actually build them.
