The farthest Ive heard in skip conditions is Palmsprings California. By map thats 2,184 miles from my home in Ga.
Probably less as the crow flies .

I’m puzzled, I have a few anytone here, it is going into one of the new trucks (drivers requested), so I threw it on the bench to test it out. I started at 14 volts, went down .2 volt steps until it stopped working. It went down to 11.4 volts but didn’t squeal. Used it at 11.6 volts to talk to a driver (don’t know who), the radio didn’t like it but it worked.

Timin770 doe you use a base amp to get out a little farther?
Rooster on youtube has some Fatboy amps for sale.
He has a 1 pill doing 130 watts but not sure how much he wants for it. He has a few of them on up to 4 pill as well. A pill is the transistor not something you take. LOL!

Here is an interesting article from CB Radio Magazine on the subject of power and distance and according to the graph 130 watts will get out about 70 miles.

I might get one if it has side band delay.

I have a base antenna beside my house and a good power supply in my den, so I always have one of my mobiles hooked up as a base. I have 3 good radios and a couple basic models, so it just depends on my mood which radio is the lucky contestant on that particular day

You have a Stryker 655, an Anytone 6666 and a the Northpoint NT3. The latter I had not heard of before. Looks like it puts out 50 watts on AM and FM is that correct?

    Which one is your favorite?

Oh boy that's almost like asking me which of my children is my favorite.

Seriously tho I love all three radios for different reasons. I don't think the NT3 was on the market very long, so I feel fortunate to have one. I believe it does 50W on AM and is a nice-sounding radio. I wish it had an SWR meter, although it does have a flasher on high SWR.

I love the 655 for excellent receive and the 60-70W AM output. Love the SWR meter and frequency counter.

I mostly use the Anytone now although I have all 3 radios in heavy rotation. I didn't think I'd be thrilled with a menu-driven radio but, like many operators, most of the settings on the Anytone are "set it and forget it". Love the SWR meter and freq counter.

I personally hear each radio from time to time by turning on my base and then transmitting on mobile as I drive away from home. The output is captured by a voice-activated recorder on the table beside the base. This way I don't have to rely on "radio checks" on the road. "It's workin', driver" lol

That's great idea about the voice activated recorder. Do you have to wait until you return to hear its recording or can you access it from your cell phone?

I usually get a radio check by the wife on base. That's why I originally wanted and sort of needed a base setup.

The last one I got was for our single axle dump truck.
The complaint was that no one could hear it but it listened very good.
And if I'm not mistaken I have learned that noise cancelling mics don't work well on powerless CB's like the cobra 19. I put a cheap Superstar Mic in there and the wife said it was coming in very loud and clear.

The RK56 could just barely be heard in the house on base but not at all at rock quarries with conveyors and machinery running. The RK 56 did look old and it could be bad but I think I've read before that those need powerful radios.
The backup Cobra 19 I have in my dump truck doesn't seem to be heard either since I've put a noise cancelling Ranger SRA198 on it.

For it to work, all I have to do is move the antenna and speaker wire over to it. Its wired in and ready to go just don't have much once you get it turned on. LOL!

I either wait til I get home or have my wife play it for me on the phone. I usually do it when I have a couple days off so it might simply be a trip to the store and back
