Not really. If you quit then your contract requirements fall to option 2, which is a monetary amount you owe them. And just like any other credit related thing it will go to a collection agency where you can offer to pay off the loan for pennies on the dollar. It will still hurt your credit, but it will NOT hurt you getting hired anywhere else. What might will be jumping ship so soon, but if it's your first job it might not either. My suggestion is try and wait 6 months if you are only a couple months away and then jump to another company.

Okay, newbies, wannabes and rookies, LISTEN to what I am about to tell you:
(Ahem)
Every bottom end, POS local driving job in my area pays $600/week minimum. If you're running OTR solo, you should be making a grand a week, minimum. If you are not making a grand a week and you're OTR, somethings wrong. If you're running team, you should be making more than $1200 a week, minimum. You do not run team for the same rate as a solo driver. If you are, somethings wrong.
How do you know which company to go to?
Ask them, "How much do you pay rookies?"
If they give you a complicated answer or answer your question with a question, RED FLAG. THeir reply should be simple and to the point, "$.37/mile"
Then ask, "What is the average weekly settlement for your drivers?" Again, the answer should be simple. "$900/week."
Then ask, "What did the top driver in the company gross?" The top drivers usually make 1.5-2x average. If the top driver made less than 1.5 average, run away. Usually companies in their advertising will list the pay that the top drivers made, "Our top drivers made $xxxxxx!" Or, "You can make $xxxxx at Moron Trucking."
So, if they are paying $.37/mile and you want to make a grand a week, you have to run 2700 miles a week. Or less than 400 miles a day. That's an easy day, even in a slow truck. Now if the average driver can't get 400 miles a day, somethings wrong. Even those stupid YouTube drivers should be able to do that.
You do not swap pay for home time.
"Our drivers are home every weekend!" But if you ask them what the average driver makes, and they tell you $600, how is that good? You can do that at a crappy local job. You should easily be able to run 500 miles a day, 5 days a week and be home on weekend. And you should still make a grand a week. If not, somethings wrong.
$.22/mile was cheap 30 yrs ago. You should never agree to run for cheap.
"But Six, You have to start somewheres. You have to 'pay your dues'."
In order to get your foot in the door, you are consciously agreeing to buttsex. Shameful. No wonder you guys try to eat your sorrows away.Ryan423, TequilaSunrise, rda2580 and 1 other person Thank this. -

First, quit working cheap. You bring the wages down for everyone. Second, getting out of a contract because you were dumb enough to sign it is wrong. But that doesn't help. So you have to find a way to break the contract. The easiest way is to find them making you work in an unsafe environment. If you are driving with someone, they will do something sooner or later which will put your safety at risk. They might just let the truck run across the center line or off on a shoulder. Or speed down a hill. All of these things put your safety in danger and thus void the contract. Put it in writing and move on.

If you not making at least 0.40cpm and that is absolute minimum as a new driver team or solo than its not even worth it. Why are ppl still signing with those pos companies is a mystery to me because you can make more money working at the factory lol.... I don't think i would leave my house for $300 a week.
TequilaSunrise Thanks this. -
Ha, even Cr England's starting pay for rookie team drivers several years ago was much higher than that at 30 cpm.
-
How long have you been there?
The problem with walking away from your contract and other companies not touching you comes from the new company needing a school certificate. CRST will not release your certificate until your contract is fulfilled. This leaves you in a pickle. If they really wanna be shady, they won't even verify your experience, creating an even bigger pickle.
And if they really wanna screw you, they'll put a bunch of crap on your record.
All the same, you'd make more at almost ANY other company at this point. Hell even Swift will throw you in a truck solo for 37 cpm. -
Ok. After reading this.
Are you a team or with a trainer? Because what I got was you're with a trainer (Which should not be a running as a team.)
If you are a team is that 22 cpm split or per each person?
If you are a with a trainer: How long is it? Also your trainer suck if hes going doing 2000 miles per week but thats another story.
