We don't know if it's an issue with the actual iOS release or the applications implementation of the iOS. If the app was structured in such a way that was outside the norm and the iOS update broke the abnormal or unique implementation then that's not really a fault or bug in the iOS.
Maybe the developer didn't test their app against the beta versions that have been made available for months now. So it might just be an issue of Quality Assurance within the app programming. Maybe they were not prepared for the public rollout and now it bit them.
So the answer might be "fix the app" and not "fix the OS"... Either way, the dev is working on a solution and will be released soon.

"Kwikset said it is working closely with Apple to support a solution that will restore the functionality as quickly as possible. iOS 10 will be publicly released later today, so the fix will likely be included in a subsequent software update." -
