I was really looking forward to working for Prime in the upcoming weeks, but it seem's like I'll have to look elsewhere for work. They have a problem with my lack of employment during 2011, and they haven't even half-assed bothered to inquire or attempt to understand the situation. My father died in early 2011, and I had to quit my job in Hawaii and move back to Alabama to take care of my fathers legal estate, inheritance, debts, etc. It was a lengthy process that took about 9 months to complete. On top of this, I had to manage a 100acre pasture of 50 cows that my father had owned, and also take care of my mother for 3 months after having knee and hip replacement surgery. It was perhaps one of the busiest times of my life, and certainly the most dramatic and frustrating. It was worse than any full-time job I've ever had on paper, but it something that had to be done, and I was the only one in the family willing to sacrifice his career for several months to do the job. During the time-period, I ran a under-the-table computer repair shop just so i could afford cigarettes and socks, but the repair business was never "licensed".
I dare any recruiter at Prime to take care of their crippled mother full-time, while also handling the death and legal affairs of their father. If thats not enough, add 50 cows to manage, and 100 acres to maintain (baling hay, fixing fence lines, cutting intrusive brush, castrating calves, and that's not ecen HALF the work).
I really expected the recruiter that emailed me to be a bit understanding, but I guess not. I consider it a slap in the face after all the crap I went through during that time-period of tragedy and struggle.
Application rejected by Prime

I'm not sure how I could do that. After my father died, the ranch went into her name, not mine. And when I round up a cow to sell to the stockyard, the check is issued to her and then she gives me my percentage. Aside from that, it's a small family operation that doesn't involve alot of paperwork unfortunately. Tragic thing is that I looked at the lack of paperwork as a bonus, and now it's going to become a deathnail to getting a job. Jesus, when did this country get so #### stupid that companies automatically assume youre lazy or unstable when in fact I was working my ### off trying to bury my fathers, pay his debts, and barely able to take care of my crippled mother or myself. No one gives two craps about the realities of life anymore, they just wanna see a pretty statistic on a paper and pretend that number means everything about a person.

Its not so much a "prime" problem, its an insurance problem. Many insurance companies will not cover you if youve had a one year break, some even six months regardless of the reason. You most likely will need to go too Schnieder or Swift to get going again. Sorry about youre Father, mine passed recennt too. Good luck to you.

Yes it's almost impossible to get a truck driving job if you don't have a perfect even NON DRIVING work history. It's outrageous. Some guy who is out of work for a year or two, or just wants to take a break from working, does the right thing, goes to school to improve himself, gets his cdl then learns it's all a big scam, and he can't get a job just because of the simple fact he's been out of work for a year or two either through no fault of his own, or he wanted to take time off. It's really ridiculous. Which is another reason why trucking SUCKS and is a SCAM. IF you go to school for anything else, from Nursing to Hair cutting, to cooking, it doesn't matter if you were out of work for a year or not, as long as you graduated, got your license, and can do the job you can get a job after going to school to improve yourself - BUT NOT WITH TRUCK DRIVING! It's all a big #### scam, truck driving schools.

I had no idea they would be so quick to judge me as opposed to asking me about the time period and trying to inquire about the situation. If I was an employer, that's what I'd do...I wouldn't just automatically show them the door. Here's the funny thing..they told me I was pre-hired in an earlier email, and then they asked about the lapse in official employment, and suddenly I was given a quick email telling me good luck in my future job-hunting. I could understand if I had spent those months being lazy and playing video games, but for gods sake I was handling a herd of cows and carrying my mother to the bathroom, 7 days a week. It feels like a real slap in the face considering all the crap I went through and how hard I had to struggle. It was hell of a lot harder than driving a truck or working in factory, I'll tell you that.

So WHAT IF YOU HAD spent those months taking time off and chilling so WHAT? If you went to school for something else, it wouldn't even matter, but not with trucking.

a letter from your lawyer showing your fathers death and settling his estate would help
i was self employed then declared bankruptcy was out of work for 9 months
a letter from my accountant sufficed
at least with trans amaiwiron Thanks this. -
Thanks Pete, I'll see what I can do towards that

It may depend on how many excuses they have been hearing, and someone unfamiliar may be involved; someone who remains out of scrutiny, and who pulls the plug, so to speak'
It may help to get an affidavit from an attorney, it may just be better to do as they suggested and look elsewhere. Transam pete's reason was involuntary, you could claim the much the same thing because you did what needed to be done, good luck to you however it goes with Prime Inc.aiwiron Thanks this.
