Justin thanks for starting the thread. I finished and left out the 27th. Trainer was driving and we got in a wreck. Took 27 hours for the wreck to get cleared. We get back I switch trainers. Wait almost 3 days. Go out with a new one. Drop off in north mo, get a p/u in southern Il, get to sit for a day and a half at spring mo. Leave out 2 stops in TX. Before we leave find out there is a family emergency. So now I will be sitting idle again till Sunday for deliv Monday. I asked linda for a switch sat before I set out was denied. Anyone have any suggestions...

They will know what that emergency was and likely think the new trainer will not be home very long. That's probably why they denied the second switch. That will change if he's gone longer than they expect. Just stay in contact with the fleet manager for your new trainer to keep up on what's going on. If it does go on too long, they'll get you another.

Communication is key, and do not be in the least angry when talking to them (or even frustrated). Pissing off a fleet manager at this point in your training will only dim your immediate future. Be nice, stay appraised; all will turn out okay.

No. Quite a lot of us instructors don't do TNT phase.

The numbers suggest it's more profitable for company guys to do PSD and then find a new PSD rather than doing TNT. Then on the flip side, it's more profitable for lease guys to do TNT and only TNT. At least that's how I perceive it. If you have the same guy for PSD and TNT, it's more likely than not a lease guy who is investing his time in you through PSD in anticipation of the TNT phase.

    Hello all,
Not much to say Been running hard, driving through some snow storms and mountains about a week ago driving through PA/WA in the snow storm my windshield motor decided to go out and wipers wouldn't work anymore was down for 6 hours at a TA while they ordered the part and had it delivered.

I've been home for about a week now, Sick but thats not the reason why I'm home, My TNT trainer had to go home to OKC to take care of personal things, then the truck failed the Annual DOT inspection so he had to get it fixed, We are leaving out tonight on a load.

Everything has been going good been running into some truck problems. We were in Colorado at the drop yard in denver when we busted the air line to our differential lock(trainer did it not me LOL) then all the empty trailers there even the new 16 series had issues either chunks missing and insulation showing, reefer chute ripped down or something else wrong with it.

I'm looking forward to getting back on the road.

Funny thing is first time getting into my own car I tried to enter the code for the security system, and push the clutch down to start it... I have an automatic LOL. Then i took a couple turns wide as if i was in a tractor/trailer.. Seems things just become habit without realizing it.

Take care all, Stay safe out there!

This is true to a point. The residuals on a PSD/TNT are good for a lease driver, but only if he sticks around.

What happens when your only choice is a trailer with those same issues, and dispatch tells you its that or they're taking you off the load? Better learn how to take care of these things with a minimum of fuss. No drama freight service to YOUR customer (aka FM) will get you further and into better loads than whining about all of the busted trailers.

The clutch thing happens to everyone from time to time, LOL!
