Call and talk to them. Some may be able to email you an application and work with you on an interview on your home time. Others may not be very accommodating

Some have online applications and some don't. Just when they call after applying tell them hey I'm on the road right now anyway we can do interview over the phone or schedule it for when you'll be home or tell your company you gotta be home to handle some business

Everything is done online nowadays. Go to Indeed.com and use the search engine for available Local jobs around your area. Or... next time you're home, look around on the roads, highways, malls, distribution centers, shopping centers , grocery stores, etc., and write down the names of all the daycabs you see. There should be plenty to look for, from Private Fleets, LTL, Foodservice, Parcel, Garbage, Mail, Logistics/3PL, etc., etc.

It's a myth that you have to go OTR in order to gain experience for a Local job. There's plenty of local jobs that hire new students. Practically all LTL companies will either have a dock to driver program or hire new students. Same with Foodservice (such as McLane and GFS) and Beverage (Pepsi and Coke) as well. UPS Parcel and Fed Ex (Express and Freight) train you in-house. "BUT"... usually the highly desired jobs that don't need to advertise do require some level of experience.

I like face to face interviews. Internet is so impersonal. You don't know if the other person is interested or not, with the internet, right ? More than likely the person looking is a $8.00 an hr grunt. And a 21 yr old college flunkie......

Since you don't have time to research the companies/jobs, my best recommendation is to try a CDL job placement service called ceeberr dot com. You just tell them what you are looking for by filling out a few forms. They will use your information to research the companies and then match you with the best local job you can qualify for. They also set you up with a recruiter for the company you have chosen to work for. They will do everything for you. All you have to do is make yourself available for the interview. For busy drivers who want to switch jobs, this service is helpful and it is free. You may wanna try the service to see if it works for you.
