If your applying for Werner because they tell you they have apu's on the trucks, you might want to reconsider. They do have them. I'm in an '09 cascadia, and I have one. BUT they are phasing them out. So over the next couple years, Werner won't have them anymore. So it's a crap shoot right now. And don't expect to get the truck you ask for. I came to Werner with experience. I was told they had a 2 kw's and a Volvo available for fleet assignment. I said give me a kw. I got a freightliner cascadia. Other than that, solo western region, not too bad. I'm averaging 2400 miles a awesome right now(due to starter and dpf filter).

no. the new trucks have a thing called ambient air idle. its simple, yet stupid for the drivers. if it is below 30 F, or above 75-80 F, than you can idle. but if you have common sense, just because its 60 F outside doesnt mean its comfortable in the truck. they say the maint. costs of apus out weigh the fuel savngs...bs, but w/e.

They are issuing brand new 62*** series with apu since the experiment didn't work driver learned how to override the system real quick and they are idleing up to 12 hours a day in the northern states so they just decided to bring it back. It made more sense.

Yeah....Schneider went to that. I think their range is like 20 to 70 degrees. But, if you're being forced to face into the sun, that truck is going to heat up quick. "OH, use the curtains and pull the sleeper curtains too", they say.

Great. Like I want to live in a cell all the time. I swear...common sense is gone. If it doesn't fit into a computer matrix, then it can't be done in the eyes of the bozos making these decisions.

I hope your right. I like to sleep cool. So winter doesn't bother me lol. Summer? Forget it.

@48packard.... Your right about the office logic vs driver truth. The FM I had when I started....has never even seen the inside of a truck. That, and to top it all off, with him it was like shaking hands with a fish. I hope I didn't break his hand LOL.
