Congrats. Not implying anything at all, but don't injest/inhale/shoot anything that will come and bite you in the butt and end up in your pee or hair follicles.

Consider starting a new thread on TTR blogging about your experience with the school, how you're doing, successes (and problems) you have behind the wheel. I (speaking for myself but imagine that others here share this thought) will enjoy reading of your education.
    Good luck!

So I GUESS I passed my physical. The nurse gave me the papers to take to the school. They gave me a card to keep with me when I go to classes. *shrug* Hey didn't say anything else.

CONGATULATIONS Survivor! The drug test concerns me! Only due to my 64 years............I'm taking the on-line class so I need to go get my DOT physical soon! Only problem now is I've got the flu or a cold or something, feel like sheet!.......

I am drug and alcohol-free! I'm not worried about that.

They should allow you to reschedule the DOT, huh? Oh I know about the flu and the flu shots! It's funny how eveytime I got the flu shot.....I GOT THE FLU!!! How backwards is that!

Congrats man! Excited to see how it goes for you!

Sorry about the long posts. The only thing I seem to have retained out of high school was typing class! I am a fast typist and can really throw down whatever is in my little head! Also just trying to give you new guys a better perspective as to what to expect out there. When I started school and driving the internet was just being invented so I went into the whole career pretty blindly. I try to share my experiences and costly mistakes with you guys so that you are more relaxed and confident about the decisions you make in your journey.

    Sorry about the babble.

Good luck man, drive safe and keep us all informed of your journey...

    Rick_C and SurvivorDagobah Thank this.

You started driving at the age of 2????

I appreciate everything that I have learned from those who are already driving. Thanks for what you have shared.

Why would anyone suggest this to a new driver just entering the industry?

You obviously haven't thought about this a lot.

Most private schools are around $4000....only bigger schools like Roadmaster and TDI are $6000+ and that is because of their financing. Still, youre talking about trying to save $1500, $2000 on what you finance but forget about the $15000 to $25,000 you lose in your first year with a big carrier under contract as opposed to graduating a private school and walking out a free agent. As a free agent you have the ability to leave school and go straight to work for companies that pay twice what Stevens, SWIFT, PAM, CR England and all the other garbage contract carriers pay.

What you are also forgetting is that after graduating a private school, most quality companies will pay you the entire costs associated with getting your training done with a private school. Meanwhile, CR England and the like will be taking your training costs right out of your paycheck.

Lets not even get to the home time issues.

I went through a private school with $1500 down, financed $2500 through them. Went to work for TMC and right out of training was making $1200-$1300 a week plus getting full tuition pay back from TMC. To top it off, I was home every weekend.

I dont even know how you could dream of suggesting doing the contract route to anyone.

    DaReallyst Thanks this.
