Driving a 2012 kw with a thermoking rear control unit. Truck has a refrigerator stitch works fine. When voltage gets to low, the apu starts to recharge batteries.

What doesn't work right is the heat. Temp is set to 70 deg with the up dawn arrows. Mode setting is on heat and unit works. The moment I start my truck, the rear hours on stand by like it should. Problem is when I shut truck off, the rear unit does not restart. The only way I can restart it is if I hit the mode button till the heat is selected.

Winter is coming and it sure would be nice to climb into a warm truck. Setting it before I get out won't help because when the hockey takes the truck to the dock to get it loaded, he isn't going to reset everything.

I read the operators manual and that didn't help.

maybe other drivers or the mechanic at your company can help. I would think its better if they can show you.

Yes. Jocky takes most of the trucks to the dock, after they are loaded, they go back in the lot.

I asked other drivers, they said I am doing everything right, must be a problem with the unit.
Problem is it isn't a major problem so the mechanics don't bother with it.

I have never in my life had anyone take my truck to a dock. Been to places that require we drop the trailer, but I have never given my truck to anyone. That seems strange to me.

    Good Luck with the APU

Unless it's a straight truck, I am not sure what the reason would be..

a company I drove for my boss asked if I had another driver back my trk into a dock.I dont know why he would have even thought such a thing.I had a driver spot me so I could back in but never would I allow anyone to drive my truck..inquiring minds wanna know why he the driver doesn't back her in.is it that customers policy.why not unhook and the yard dog backs in using his trk.I'd be afraid he would hit something and blame the driver.

Your problem may be how the APU is programmed. We had some units that you would have to reset the mode every time you started the truck or shut off the dash switch. Thermo king had to reset the parameters and in one case they had wired the circuit board wrong during installation.
