I don't mind a good scrap. But to sit here and type it out is silly. It has to go outside when there is a good thread going. There is always someone in every group whose yipping has to be educated sheesh. The world would be such a better place without it.

Maybe he thought you were what he was looking for o_O. You told him you were married right?

You can be the only truck in the parking lot and the next truck to show up will park next to you for God only knows why. If I wanted to park next to a pack of trucks I would have!

That's great that you have enough meat on you to handle the cold temps like that. Some of us who are skinny don't have that extra insulation and I'm sure as he'll not dressing up like an Eskimo going to the north pole to stay in my truck because you hate the noise of an apu, lol!
Don't know about you, but where I am parked right now it's 45 degrees, the sun is out and it's 75 degrees in my truck with the windows open. I have to run my apu just to keep it cool in here even at 45 degrees outside. I get to much heat radiating from the engine, transmission and exhaust while the truck cools down to be comfortable in here.

As for thousands off $$$ for maintaining the apu, you're on crack. I have 4500 hours I this apu and have had it brand new, my total maintenance cost over that 2 year period, $336. Not sure where you get your info on these numbers.
Actually it does pay back pretty quickly. Let's see, 4500 hours of the apu idling used 1,125 gallons of fuel for that last 2 years. That cost me $2,250 in fuel vs if I idled that many hours on the tractor would use lets just be conservative at 1 gallon an hour, that would be 4,500 gallons of fuel and that would cost me at least $9,000. So I saved $6,750 in just fuel. That doesn't even touch the wear and tear on the tractor engine and increased oil changes. Your ignorance is showing sir.
I highly doubt that you only idle 100 a year. Maybe like 100 a week. Go find another career if the noise in this one is to much for you, or even better yet, but done earplugs!

A few trash bags, shop towels and lysol disinfectant along with certain other chemicals to really clean and disinfect such a truck. It's a formidable task. We cleaned ours every few days disinfected at least weekly. You can get sick really fast if you live in a hovel running to all sorts of places around the USA.

@redoctober83 First of all, it was night and dark , second, it was a bad smoking and rattling Apu, the guy parked next to me despite having the whole world to park, and that's my problem, 3rd the 100 hrs a week and 1 gal an hour that's a great APU salesman data, so that your mathematical example could appear very convincing. You say that you doubt this and that,...
earplugs and changing carrier, that's rather condenscending and I don't need that. You don't need to convince me to all values of an Apu or that it is OK for a stinker to blow fumes and noise into my open window .

You are such a drama queen.

No apu salesmen crap given there. Actual numbers from real life.

I will give you that yes, the drivers that don't give a crap about there equipment and they are blowing smoke and ratteling like it's about to blow. There is no excuse for that.

Best of luck to you, but my suggestion would be find a rest area or a wide open field to park and sleep in if you want your windows open. That's what I'll do when I want to sleep with my windows open

Pulled into a J one night with a load of ice cream. -20 continuous cycle. Decided to be nice so I nosed in the last spot in the lot. Got out to go take a shower and one guy beside me rolls done his window and starts giving me the business about not being able to back a trailer into a spot. Guy on the other side thinks this is just a hoot so he chimes in as well. Took my shower, came back out to hear all this crap again. Hopped in backed out, spun around and backed in...took thirty seconds. Walked up to the first butthead and told him to enjoy the racket, I was used to it. Got the second offenders attention and engaged him with some rudimentary sign language. Crawled in, laughed my arse off and went to sleep.
