We just serviced the Carrier APU a couple of weeks ago, and put on a new belt that was cracked. It was running rough along with the truck, so he put in a fuel additive. He took off the cover to hit the reset button, and now it won't fire up at all? Stumped as to what is going on with it. The truck is running better, but with no APU he is having to idle to keep warm. Does anyone have any suggestions that he can try?

The first few things that come to mind is fuel filter, fuel transfer pump and fuel solenoid/fuse.

Kubota are fuel sensitive... change the fuel filter. Also check the fuel line for cracks or age as it could be sucking air somewhere.
However when mine runs rough or decides to shut down for no reason, its because of the small inline filter.

If your truck and apu both were runny bad, then its obvious you got a hold of some bad fuel.

    58Skylane and mamamullins Thank this.

Yeah that is what we were thinking, so he put in the fuel additive. The truck started running better, but that is when the APU quit. I'll tell him to look at the fuel filter, because it may have got clogged from the bad fuel.

I had an issue with my Tri-pac not wanting to run. turns out I had 5 broken/corroded wires and a bad power switch. Just saying....

    mamamullins Thanks this.

Thanks MNdriver, I will let him know about that too. He said it won't even fire over, so that may be the problem too. He said that he will go out in the morning when he has light to look and see what is going on. I sure do appreciate everyone's suggestions, because this is his first APU and we just don't know enough about them.

for me, it would fire then shut down. Near as we could figure out, it was the vibration of running breaking the connections, then it would shut down.

After 3 hours of messing with it, it became clear, take it to someone that KNEW the system. I got to pick their brains for 4 hours as I watched the tech work on the truck.

Hmmm...that is what his was doing a few days ago, and now it won't fire over at all. He said the starter won't even come on. It is hard telling because that APU hadn't been serviced for quite some time, and it's possible that they might have damaged the wiring when putting the belt on. I will definitely let him know.

Are you aware that he can push and hold down the start button for continuous cranking ?
Just don't crank it for more then 10 or 15 second as those starters are not designed to continuously crank for any period of time.
Also you might want to put a fuel bulb between the tank and the unit to prime the apu when you change fuel filters.
You can find a 5/16th at any boat supply place, walmart in the boating section, napa...
