At the present time, the only heat and electric I have in the tractor is the engine and it's electrical supply. What is a good brand of APU to put on? I need to get this set up soon as PA is no idle and I don't know if I will ever hit PA.

Call your local Thermo King dealer. Most of them have used Tri Pacs installed for a reasonable price.

Where does the unit mount? I have virtually no frame to hang mine like my friend did.

If I become an o/o I will setup my own APU instead of getting ripped off. For a while I had my own solar panel setup that powered my laptop, TV, alarm clock, and cell phone charger. I even added a toggle switch if I wanted the alternator to charge my extra 35 ah batteries.

how is an apu a rip off?? whether you buy a built apu or do up your own , it saves money and that's the bottom line. I bought my apu on a 2 year lease with no buyout at the end, I have thus been able to deduct the entire payment I have made each year along with the cost of filters oil etc for maintenance.

I have also enjoyed enough fuel savings and food savings by having available power for a microwave, refrig etc. I have easily saved three times the apu payment each month, my roi was less than a year.

in another thread leftlane posted pics of his homebuilt apu and said by doing all the work himself he had 3,000 or a little over in it. I wonder if he fabricated those units up for sale would he sell them for what it cost to build it, answer is no. probably would sell for 5 grand . and thats a gas burner. now his is definitely a class install.

its whatever works for the individual, but to classify it as a rip-off is abit unfair. especially for someone who hasn't had to own, pay for or maintain out of his own pocket.

What is the fuel consumption of that Dynasys? I am a believer in Lucas Products and they work together. Does the APU run while you drive to provide AC as well? Just curious

mine will run while the truck is running but I don't do that, did help once when the alternator went out. if running constantly mine will use at most .25 gal per hour. but I set mine on auto and it cuts on and off by the thermostat control and cuts on if the batts run down. but I don't run it constantly. it will is wired to put 110 to the block heater

What are they gonna set me back? You have yours doing what I want mine to do. On when you need, off when you don't. Plus, that will put the air out when its hot and not drag on the engine thus better mileage. I'm very interested. Closet dealer is 120 miles :/
