Are any of the job listings legitimate?

    Hi guys, I'm new here but I'm an experienced driver. I'm looking for a new job. I'm out of Cali and the new law here was a gut punch to my paycheck. I went from being a 1099 employee to being forced onto payroll. I don't need any benefits and I have my own health insurance. I just want to run hard and make as much money as possible.
    I've been researching all the ads on these boards and Indeed and Glass Door and it seems like there's a lot of smoke and mirrors going on. Jobs say they're out of Cali or Nevada and after I do a little investigating, they all seem to lead back to Chicago. They promise high pay (.65-.75 cpm) and 3,000-3,500 miles a week minimum, which is exactly what I'm looking for. Just not the Chicago part. I know a guy who went there and killed it but he changed his number and I can't get in touch with him. It's just with all reviews I've read from other drivers there seems to be a lot of shady #### going on. Two weeks in the hole on pay, $2,000 in escrow, etc. It just smells. And I can't afford to get dicked around. I need to start work immediately and start getting paid immediately.
    Are those jobs legit and how do you know what's what? When I look at other jobs that really are out of Vegas or Sacramento or L.A. and the company has a real website and all that, they seem to pay only .55-.60cpm. I really need to be making $2k+ a week on a 1099. Is that possible or am I dreaming? And if yes, where?
    I've got 20+ years experience. I don't mind being on the road for 2 months at a time. I can drive 4,000 miles a week. I can do flatbed. Whatever it takes. I'm not afraid to run hard. What I can't do is reefer. I can never sleep good with those things. And I'm not driving a Cascadia either. I need a Kenworth or a Volvo. Does anybody have any input on what I should do and where I should go? Thanks in advance!

    I'm near Sac but can go anywhere. I don't have a home to tie me down. Live in the truck. I only have tanker and triples but no real interest in driving those or hazmat. I like to move without thinking too much lol

    Hmmmmmm....let's see.....make sure we get everything straight, here....

    You hate reefer (and I sympathize)....and no real interest in pulling tanker or doubles...or in anything hazmat.

    You don't need any benefits, and you say you have your own health insurance.

    And you're near Sacramento.

    20+ years driving experience.

    What's your driving record like? Any tickets? Accidents? Bad inspections?

    Any criminal history? Jail time? Substance abuse? In/out of rehab?

    Everything is clean bro. I don't even drink. Driving record is spotless. Maybe some minor dings on inspections I suppose. I can't remember. Last inspection was like 6 months ago. I think I had a marker light out and a flat tire once. And my medical had expired but they let me go.

    I've worked a 1099 in Chicago before. I got 1 check that was over 2000 dollars the year that I did it. 2000 dollars a week is a bit of a pipe dream in most cases when it comes to your average OTR trucking job. Those folks are very shady and they play by their own rules. I don't think 1099 is meant to be a career builder. Once you get there, you'll be able to make a living and that's as far as it goes. You'll run a lot of northeast/east coast loads. You will sign a contract most likely that will give them the ability to get that escrow money from you, and if you hit a deer for instance, they will charge you. Every load is broker freight. I don't recommend it unless your record is bad. My question to you is, if you aren’t bound to a home, why go the 1099 route?

    Many out of state companies won't hire drivers with a California cdl and that includes 1099 and W2.

    I need 1099 because I need to make a much money as fast as possible. My gf has some medical bills not covered by insurance and I'm in the hole quite a bit. I'll deal with the IRS later. They're easy to deal with. Saving her is more important. I just want to work hard and pay all my bills off as fast as possible
