RV'ers fall into the category of a bumper sticker I seen not long ago...

    "I'm retired, go around".

    Not in a hurry.

RV's are like driving a house. I think it's a horrible chore myself. Particularly the older ones.

Until they cross that border. Then they go brain dead. Like the guy who decided that pulling up alongside of me and parking there as the lane ended today.

RV's suck up the fuel fast if driving over 55 mph. You can watch the fuel level move and you'll think you have a leak. They're geared low.

I go 55 when I am pulling mine just to piss you off.

Seriously though. Most have tires that are only rated for 65. I upgraded to tires rated at 81 but most folks do not. Also campers, especially bumper pull ones are not nearly as stable as a van trailer. They like to sway and move especially if its windy. Also the average person with a rv of any type is not likely to have tons of miles in that type of vehicle so when the wind starts to push them around they get nervous.

That being said. I pull mine usually at 55 to 60 mph. Mostly to save fuel.

Not all RV's drive slow. Last summer I was blazing across Arkansas on 40 west. Wee hours of morning and little traffic. A pair of headlights appear behind me so I dont think much of it. In just a minute they are right on me. I can tell it ain't a truck but it's big lol. So I check my speed it's right on 80. As the big motor home passes me the little old guy wearing a 20's mobster style hat and a wife beater looks over gives me the flat handed Indian wave you see in old westerns. Gasses on it and rides off in the night.

What's wrong with driving 55 mph? That's my speed, I enjoy "WATCHING" all you maniacs now instead of fighting with you.
