After driving trucks with and without a right side fender mirror I would say they are a very wise investment. Far to many blind side lane change accidents could have been prevented with them.

Myself, I love having fender mirrors, especially on a long nose truck. It allows me to keep my eyes on the road and scan what is in front of me, and I can quickly glance at them to see what is behind and next to me without turning my head and taking my eyes off the road. Of course you need to use your cab mirrors to change lanes and have a clearer picture of what is next to you and behind you. I always feel safer with them. Both of them.

For backing, I always liked having a power mirror on the passenger side of the truck. I used to work at a place where we shuttled trailers, and every one had to backed in from the blind side. With the power mirror, I could safely back in without getting out of the truck. It's also a PITA to adjust the passenger mirror if it is not power. Very convenient.

Pull up a thread that is 1 year and 9 months old to act tough with a poster that hasn't posted on here in over a year and will probably never see you reply?

Having a bad day are we?

I was waiting for someone to intelligently mention this one particular use. To add to this point, how about when you are in the center LANE during a traffic jam, your margin of error has decreased, traffic is constant GO and STOP "in that format"; but usually not stopping for U! This is taking place on both sides of your truck in milli-seconds. In this situation, I'd prefer both fender mirrors! Or, how about when you are on narrow two lane back wood roads, to name a few; I have persuaded many a mechanic to place fender mirrors onto BOTH sides of my truck ESPECIALLY IN THOSE KW's. Having a good view/angle from the front fender area all the way back to the trailer rear duals makes sense, besides this is not only elementary, but what one use to learn in good truck driving schools... Some of the replies to this post reaffirms my steadfast refusal to team! I could also apply a antonym to describe the importance of having and being prepared to use the CB Radio, in a sentence using a metaphor, simile, analogy and or synonym to describe the same importance and being similarly helpful and needed, but I'd be digressing. Aim High!

I had s similar argument with an old Codriver after asking him to not even spot a blind ball, just stoop traffic coming into the lot until I can get the cab setting around so I can see out the mirror. The point he overlooked, which is why he said I'll never be a silo driver, is that it's the difference between seeing something sine of the time vs all the time.

What that had to do with these mirrors: anyone who is aware of their surroundings knows when a car is missing in their other mirrors, so there's a good chance Outs next to you in your blind spot. But why wouldn't you want to be able just look in that blind spot whenever needed to be 100% positive that nobody is there? We all make mistakes. Every single one of us will at some point not notice a car next to us, hopefully we notice because they pass us and not because we change lanes on top of them... Even with the fender mirrors, that mistake will happen. Were posed by hundreds to thousands of cars every day, the odds of a perfect record are really against us, were not going know every car that passes next to us.

Those mirrors save lives by letting you check to see if you missed anyone. Without them, you have a big blind spot a car can be sitting in. If it makes you look new, fine, you look new to the peyote you're never going to see again... at least you can say that there's almost no way you're ever going to accidentally change lanes into another car, which matters way more than sine idiot's opinion of you

My first truck had a training mirror on it when I bought it, I hated it and promptly removed it. Now all I have ever had have been W900L's with Daylight doors.

With moto mirrors on each side, and the big spot mirrors under em, I've never had an issue.

I also don't ride with all of the air out of my seat, I like to sit up where I can see going down the road.

In my opinion if you "need" mirrors on the end of the hood, well you haven't quite mastered your trade yet.

And when I see someone who has to have them on their truck, that is how I feel about it, and that is how I look at it, now grandted if you are driving a company pig where they most likely specked that short hood plastic jalopie out with them, well you know I know that is not the driver, that is how the truck was ordered. But when I see someone go and stick them on the front of a truck that they own, it really makes me wonder why.

Not a question of "need". It's a question of "it's another tool in the bag that comes in handy from time to time in this age of ignorant 4-wheelers".

After 13 years I guess I haven't mastered my trade according to you, mr supa trucka. That's ok, I really don't care. When I'm strolling across the cross Bronx or have a 12 wide on the wagon, I'll take every mirror I can get.
