Are insurance rates different in different states?

    So how does that work? Do have property in iowa? Is your truck registered there etc.

    Yes. My tag and ifta is registered there before I moved to Texas. Tags and ifta do not go hand in hand with fmcsa

    My insurance gal explained it to me like this: wherever you drive and you see those billboards that are for lawyers suing trucks, traffic lawyers or injury lawyers.....your rates are going to be extremely high if you live there. Pretty much her exact words.

    Edit: my buddy just moved from Colorado to Texas....his rates almost doubled.
