Are locking brakes normal on a Peterbuilt??

    **Chick Question, no laughing**
    Need to know if when the brakes lock on a newer Peterbuilt if that is normal or not normal..?
    Why would they lock up?

    No that’s not normal. Maybe you have a sensitive foot valve and applying too much pressure. My 379 requires you to put a good amount of force to lock up. And by the way, if your lucky enough to be driving a peterbilt, please spell it right brotha

    Doesn’t matter, if you apply enough brake pressure, you will still get pulsating skid if coming to a short stop. Sounds like this person is new at trucking and stabbing to hard unloaded

    Could be. I know my Volvo has super smart brake. It even sense is truck with trailer or bobtail to adjust brake power. And it will derate the engine if it thinks I need it.

    Leaky s-cam seal letting grease onto brakes?
    Can make things a bit grabby.

    The possibilities are endless depending on what you have and the conditions while operating and the condition of the truck. If your feeling something, get it in and get it checked out. If it's a normal condition, you will find out in the end. A good loaded road test with a qualified mechanic following by a visual brake inspection will usually find the issue in short order, if you can duplicate the concern.
