Too much pressure on the pedal?

No that’s not normal. Maybe you have a sensitive foot valve and applying too much pressure. My 379 requires you to put a good amount of force to lock up. And by the way, if your lucky enough to be driving a peterbilt, please spell it right brotha

The possibilities are endless depending on what you have and the conditions while operating and the condition of the truck. If your feeling something, get it in and get it checked out. If it's a normal condition, you will find out in the end. A good loaded road test with a qualified mechanic following by a visual brake inspection will usually find the issue in short order, if you can duplicate the concern.
