Hey buddy, i was over at the Flo`s diner a few days ago. Iron Eagle is there often, had not heard from EV, Hammer is here a lot, Great guy.
i will never let the Diner disappear. WE DID have some Really good times there, OTTER was always onboard. You know were getting older, much older. Im still also driving. A few days ago my wife says, when am i going to retire. she says, you know im 75,and i dont know how much longer im going to live. autos are ok on a flat interstate. any other scenario i prefer a manual transmission. no super trucker here.

Has anyone owned or known someone who owned a Dodge Cummins with a 47RH? Nothing but transmission problems from them things. Them things in stock form are enough to make a person swear off auto trannys all together.
I was 100% against autos in a diesel pickup until driving the newer 6.7 Powerstroke with whatever computerized tranny they have. They have a manual mode and they downshift with just the tap of the brakes. Completely changed my mind on the capability of an auto.
The only thing I can gather from this observation is that there's still hope that one day supertruckers can drive autos too, until that day we'll stick to manuals!!!Another Canadian driver, Oxbow, God prefers Diesels and 1 other person Thank this. -

47rh is a "great" transmission. Problem is, they can barely handle a stock Cummins in their stock form. But they're based on the Torqueflite, and have a HUGE aftermarket. They can be built to handle 3,000hp. When I built my Chevy Cummins, I put a 47rh behind it, and beat that thing like a dog on the dragstrip. Honestly when you throw some parts at it, it's a beautiful transmission.

Had the 46RE in my 2nd Gen 1500. Not a terrible transmission aside from having to drop the pan and do the OD solenoid and transducer every 2nd year at a cost of about $500 each time doing it yourself.
