Driving my manual doesn’t make me a better driver than anybody else how ever it makes me happier than driving our automatics. Hauling heavy with gasoline our trannies sometimes cannot comprehend Michigan lefts. You said put it in manual mode?? Being heavy haul sometimes the trans shifts like butter and sometimes it will sit and scream at 1800 even after holding 1600 rpm’s and letting off throttle attempting to get it to shift… Me personally I like my trucks dumber than me..seems that auto are more work than the manuals

They get a CDL and suddenly think that they can rub elbows with you. “I am a driver too!” At best, they’re steeringwheelholders. That’s as good as most of them will ever get.

And the Bleeder response, “But Six, they could learn to do what Tall Mike does.”

If they could learn, they would have never needed this thread for validation, would they? If you can’t figure out a manual transmission, you sure as hell won’t be able to figure out how to operate a parking lot.

Those who can learn will be called Supertrucker by all the NonDrivers. Those who can’t remain NonDrivers.

I'm just glad I had the chance to learn both.

Getting in a manual and taking off with it, learning how to shift on my own probably wasn't the safest idea I ever had. But I got it figured out.

Sometimes in the lower gears when I am fully loaded, it still shifts hard like an auto. But mostly the manuals are a smoother ride, and you can get them up to speed a little faster if needed.

Ka-boom,,, the crowd went nuts. I didn't read all the posts, don't have to, 1 word, "no". I don't care if you pee standing up or sitting down, a "manual" always signified a more "in tune" driver. It actually takes some smarts to know what is going on, not just sitting there picking your nose, playing video games while the truck does all the thinking. I wouldn't call them "supertruckers", though, a supertrucker is an idiot that thinks the world revolves around them, a manual transmission has nothing to do with them.

I guess I am million+ miles in BOTH manual and auto-shift transmissions. I never felt less than a real trucker when driving an auto-shift and don't look down on a driver that does. The "drivers" (and I am being kind here) that I look down on are the poor buggers that can't drive for a month without destroying something. The other day I was looking at some trucks parked near my home and even pointed out to my neighbor what causes all the damage on the right side of the truck. Getting into this debate about what makes someone a real trucker just based on what they drive when there are so dang many steering wheel holders out there makes me want to scratch my head in confusion!

your right, but some dont know how to driver a stick, and some companies insist that you know how to drive a stick.
I drive an auto right now, not bad, but had one POS, that had a hesitation in it to beat the band. to bump a dock, it would
catch and slam the building. you have to use the brake pedal at the same time. Had an auto that had a Hesitation like a
severe delay, then would catch. taking off, what a POS. you have to wait till traffic is clear for a block, then SLOWLLLLY
it would start to move. The person that designed that POS, should be tied up and set on railroad tracks, with that tractor.
the ones i drive now catch quick and take off fine.

we could care less about what some so called drivers say. I just do my job, with the equipment they give me, and
    call it a day,
