That is the cap I have on my truck steer axle.
Sealed makes sense, especially if you watch the video I shared. When they pull that cap off, it's dry and clean. That had me scratching my head, but sealed makes sense.
I guess it's a good thing they don't feel loose at all. :)

Like I said earlier, maybe I I got lucky on this part. I highly doubt the kingpins are original with that many miles on it and maybe the front hubs were serviced/replaced at the same time.

So, almost makes me think a few things.....
    1. If I have problems with these hubs, how hard will it be to find replacements?
    2. If I have problems with these, would it be cheaper to just buy a used axle with oil hubs on it?

    Hmmmm..........

You can still get those hubs.

But which would be more cost effective?
A used axle with oil hubs for $750 or new sealed hubs at $1500 each?

That would be the question I will be asking when the sealed bearings are no longer sealed. Especially since I make no money with this truck :p

I can't recall, it's been over 10 years since I replaced one. But I think it was 1300-1500 per side at FL. Volvo, IH ran them also. Not sure who else. One thing I will say, I towed alot of them. I always wondered how the drivers didn't know. But my personal opinion has changed from blaming the driver. I think when they go, it's so fast that you have no real chance. Where a tappered roller bearing will run hundred of thousands of miles loose.

Any tappered bearing can be grease packed. They been done for years. Just make sure you have a seal for grease. Some are grease only. Some are grease oil seals.

But if it has the sealed bearings I'm about 900% sure you must change spindles to get rid of them. Been a few years. But I recall the actual spindle machined much different.

Think you can get them for a lot less than that. I'd check with conmet and different suppliers.
Yes, when they went, they went fast. Not much you could do.

Well it was 10 plus years last I bought. And that was through FL dealer. Plus I just don't fully remember. :D
