It's the "hey I don't own it I aint paying for it so i'll treat it and beat on it any way i want" crowd.

Yes, I see it a lot. It's not that they aren't taught the proper use of a clutch brake. It's that they just don't care.
I had a Freightliner with a blown clutch brake when I was running company. When first turning on the ignition, I had about 30 seconds to get 'er in gear before the clutch brake was needed. Could get in gear with out grinding in that little window of time. Also, being in gear as I rolled to a stop made the brake unnecessary. This is one of the reasons I do not train.
FWIW: There are just as many old hands grinding as there are noobs. It's not lack of training. It's carelessness and laziness. That's all. -
Very true, I've just been next to many a truck at a light and heard them grinding until they get it back in gear. The only thing I can think of is they're throwing the thing in neutral or something and coasting up to the stop.
Ya, I've seen the same as yourself, it's a head shaking moment for sure.

I've been coasting up to stops in neutral ever since I've been driving. And have had all the control a man can need....that is if you know how to drive. And I will point out that during my 11 years I've been accident free as well as no "near misses" but hey...everything is not for everyone. Now as for the use of the clutch brake, I'm with you guys on that one.

What! Someone rendered the almighty otter speechless? Say it ain't so!
dixiedeadlight Thanks this. -
The only control I need is to be able to stop.....and to be able to grab a gear should the light turns green. I've NEVER...not even ONE time been "out of control" of my vehicle coming up to a light or stop sign. And for the double clutchin guys and gals that are think otherwise....again this is what works for me, personally all the attenton focused on downshifting all the way to a light/stop sign is more likely to get a person jammed up.
dixiedeadlight Thanks this.
