When I say “online”, I meant those 3rd party sites such as Indeed, Ziprecruiter, etc. The company’s website doesn’t count.![]()
Are the best jobs not found online?

The 3rd party sites are like the spice on a meal. They add some benefit, but it's not the meal. You want an online method because it's easy. It is easy, but it has outdated listings, mistakes, etc. You know who does know what jobs are available? The trucking company knows what jobs are available. Call the company.phone calls are free.
201, D.Tibbitt, hope not dumb twucker and 3 others Thank this. -
I have found some of the better trucking companies don’t really heavily advertise if they do it all and the reason being is because they don’t have to. Good drivers will go to them because they will be treated well and paid well with good benefits. Furthermore, drivers tend to stay with them for years so they don’t have to fill that many positions. This is something I’ve learned since I’ve been in trucking. These types of companies typically only take the better drivers. So you better have a clean record if you want in, especially now.
The unfortunate situation is that if you’re inexperienced and you end up with one of the mega carriers or a crappy carrier trying to start out, there is about a 500% higher chance that your records gonna get messed up working for these companies that don’t know how to treat their drivers and then you’ll never get in with the better companies. It’s almost a Catch-22 type scenario.
if I were going into trucking today, I would get in with one of these bigger companies and do my best to keep my record clean for about a year and a half and get the heck out and go work for a real company. Just my opinion. -
One strategy is to make friends with other students in school & discuss what each of you found while looking for an employer. Then at each job keep in touch with those students, make friends with drivers at each company you work for and discuss which employers do they wish to work for. I can't believe I am the person explaining how to network. It's an upside down world. Lots of kids were given a phone or tablet so teachers & parents could worship their phones & tablets. Now people are afraid of everything & everyone & vitamin D starved.

My experience is that the ones that don't have adds or help wanted signs are usually the top notch outfits .
( pay good , good equipment , treat you as a person , have bennys better than average , etc etc).
On the flip side they have a bit more strigent requirements .
