In my opinion anything that is free is worth it!

    i like your opinion.

At my company, there's are a couple tests that they require drivers to pass in order to pull the bigger and more valuable oversized loads. After the test, the instructor gives the driver an interview. Why? Well, it's the same old test that's been given for years and drivers have friends that give them answers and whatnot (open book test). The instructor knows that drivers may cheat. He's not concerned with that. In the interview, he will ask you to explain how you came up with the answer. A third of the drivers will fail the test.
had a buddy of mine tell me that he was getting ready to take that test. He told me of a friend that had all the answers and would send them to him. I asked him,"Do you really want to do that? Wouldn't you rather want to know for yourself? To know that you are up to the task...that you can actually do the job, read and understand permits, load heavy loads on trailers and get the axle weights correct, trip plan, think on your feet and avoid problems?"

Anyways, OP...if you are working at getting your licenses and endorsements and whatnot, don't you think that any FREE test would be worthwhile to take to test your general knowledge? See, the goal shouldn't be just to past the test and get a CDL, it should be to be good at what you do. You shouldn't even have to ask if it's worth it.

I appreciate the feedback good sir! And I agree, for me this is about building a long term career and i know the only way that is going to happen is by paying attention, studying the material, asking questions (even this one), if I am in doubt ask again even if it seems stupid (I have worked in food service since i began working and I am not afraid to ask more than once if I have to, people always prefer you get it right instead having to send it back) and lastly, practice!

From reading the forums, and talking to other drivers, you might get the feeling that you're just a number, and that no one really notices what you do. For most, that's true. Thing is, you ask any recruiter, any human resource person, there is a severe shortage of QUALITY drivers. Not that stupid person that struggles to keep a truck between the ditches, a quality driver. There IS a difference. Every company has quality drivers (the ones that don't are on their way out of business). They act as the backbone of the company. Yes, even CRE and Weiner.

Have you ever had a good teacher? You're in school, and your teacher just goes through the motions, teaching the required curriculum. Boring. Or perhaps there was a subject that you had troubles with. You tried, but just couldn't grasp it. The quality teacher is the teacher that has the ability to teach you in a way that you can understand.

Just as a quality teacher can inspire students to excel in their studies, quality drivers take all the guesswork out of the transportation industry. The office people will know you by name.

If there's a test, any test regarding your CDL, you want to ace it easily. If there is an area where you are having troubles, ask the gang here, there's good people here. Go after your goals like a man on a mission. If missions were easy, there would be fart missions.

    Luck in battle.
