Are the newer trucks really that bad, no longevity anymore?

Exactly. It's mind boggling that some folks on this forum are relentless and unable to accept the reality that every situation is not the same for every single person, for a variety of reasons.

Not every person who buys a new truck or trailer are getting screwed.

Not every person who buys new spends weeks on end in some shop waiting for the tech to diagnose and fix some code.

Not every guy who is running an old truck down the road is making more, has a better quality of business life, than the guy who buys new either.

Good Lord, give it rest LOL.

1 million miles without an overhaul. But how many bearing rolls and turbos did it get, how many times did the head come off? All that prolongs the life of an engine.

We have some trucks...mid 70s... with over two million miles on them. The only things still original are the frame rails and some pieces of the cab. Oh, and the air horn.

The old iron crowd cracks me up. They are so bothered by newer trucks. I can’t figure out why. They don’t drive em. Why do they care?
Nothing wrong with an older truck. My personal favorite truck of all time is the 359. But if you have to have a newer truck for your particular situation, nothing wrong with that. I drive a new one with 102,000 on it now, so I guess it isn’t new anymore. Knock on my fake rosewood I haven’t had any problems with it. Runs good. Drives good. I think it will be a good truck.

Well, reliability arguments aside, new tech allows for stupid proofing and stupid proofing is what gave us the sweat pants and shower shoes-wearing degenerates that have been the ruination of this job.

Keep us posted please. Is it your truck? If so, are you going to run it till its considered " old iron"? Or is it to be traded off at 400,000 some miles? Good luck. Happy New Year and all that stuff.

And I’m sure that’s what all the old timers said about stupid things like heated mirrors and cruise control.

"Thin" the herd I think would be more appropriate :biggrin_2559:
