Are the no name trucks wrecking more?

Here in Arkansas if you wait a while along 40, someone will screw it up but good with a semi truck. Don't worry.

With that said we have a handful of semis wreck in our area each year for a variety of reasons. We had a bad EF4 wreck Vilonia for the second time in a number of years one day and along that 64 a strong set of winds shoved Schnider into the ditch off what we call the second curve east of Elpaso on 64. Pushed the whole semi trailer, load and tractor right into the ditch. Fortunately for him he did not overturn as usually happens at that particular curve. It's been overbuilt to 4 lanes now instead of two so there is a margin of more pavement available to eastbounders there vs storm winds that come through that valley with or without a tornado or three.

Considering the number of rigs that come through daily and nightly they do a good job along there. But once in while, say once every 10 days someone screws it up.

Winter, the beginning of such anywhere usually weeds out the ones who really do not do a good job in being safe. And so it continues every year.

500,000/yr. Only 5000 deaths/year. Have safe friday folks.

Actually found one that seems very interested, in Alabama.
Attractive, about my age, likes cats. Intelligent.
The last part pretty much puts her out of my league though.
I think she has money too.

 

I voted yes and no.

My three closest calls to head on collisions in my career were

1) Big Petey Big Hammer fully in my lane coming around a curve on US 54. He was screaming at a W900 on the radio. Said he didn't care if he died.
I cared, since I would have been the other fatality.
This about 0800. So I went by him at about 60 in the emergency lane. Didn't even have time to slow down except to take my foot off the throttle.
If there would have been no e lane, and it ain't real wide through there anyway, I'm off the highway at speed.

2) Head on with FedEx on US 287. Like 2300. He came over into my lane just a few hundred yards away about half a truck. Went by him in the e lane.

3) Exact same thing as 2), except everyone's other favorite, Swift. Same highway, but about 0200.

So, I voted yes and no in the poll.

All in all, I think the Billy Big Riggers in the hoods are more dangerous for big time accidents.

Smaller more common garden variety stuff definitely goes to the mega's.

Unrestricted trucks are the problem.

With unrestricted trucks come unrestricted egos.

 

Yesterday morning, minding my own business, in my little F150 on a one lane country farm road, hauling 18 bales of hay to the farm, a no name pulp wood truck tried to squish me.

He came barreling down toward me at a rate of speed far higher than the 20mph limit on this road, logs bouncing up and down, waving his hands like a lunatic.

I swerved into the only driveway in a two mile stretch and watched him skate past with inches to spare, hands still swatting at his shirtless chest. I can only assume Bubba had a fly problem.

 

Why are there no stick kitties?
