The make and model of a truck have little to do with how much it weighs, it's based mainly on how the truck was spec'ed. A lot of new drivers and even some old ones don't realize trucks are completely custom vehicles, compared to say your typical Mustang. A double frame Prostar set up for heavy haul will easily outweigh a Pete 389 in a standard haul configuration. I hear it all the time with my Western Star, "Man those trucks are heavy" Sure if you talking about a logging Western Star set up to haul 150,000 lbs. Mine, full of fuel, rack and chains weighs in at 20,000 lbs. I drove a 51" sleeper Int 9400 with a double frame that weighed 21,500 without a rack or anything.

I doubt they are heavier then the W900. Maybe someone could post weight specs.

Nevermind found it! The prostar's dry weight is 19,400lbs which makes it lighter than the T660, the Cascadia, and the Volvo 780!
I believe my W900 weighed around 23,000.

My Century full of fuel, with me in it, chains, a big tool box, and a sleeper full of stuff is only 17,500lbs!

You have to compare apples to apples and make sure they are spec'ed the exact same, right down to the same name brand axles, tires engine, trans, ect. Otherwise the data is useless.
Typically the newer aero trucks weigh less as they make use of more plastic and composite materials.
Your question should be directed to a new truck dealer and make sure they give you a detailed sheet that backs up the numbers.volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
no, newer truck = more weight for the EPA crap they've added allot of weight with this Regen/def crap.
Good luck with a dealer knowing there a$5 from there elbow! I asked Peterbilt the differance in weight between a 386 and a 389 with identical specs i even gave him the specs i wanted and he couldnt even come up with a ballpark figure on weight, but he sure could give me a price though...
