I'm not saying I make more money than you. I'm simply saying I dont see how being away from home for 6 days working nearly 70 hours a week with the reward of 1 day off is considered good money at $62k a year.

I have heard of this happening before. I also have NO idea what companies drivers earn. I only no my nephew is being paid .44 per mile. And when I was looking to hire a team driver, I was willing to pay $1000-1200 per week salary w-2 (that means same every week all 52 weeks) and I was laughed at and told "no experienced would work for that rate.

It's the business of trucking. It's better then $500 a week like the OP was not happy with unless he doesn't want to work almost 70 hours in 6 days. Sure 40 hours a week would be better. It's always a trade off, time off vs money.

I did car hauling and did not like it. The money was good, but the truck was old and crazy small sleeper. The short runs and working in the rain and snow and the dark. It was long hour just like my current job.

I can agree with you on that. Money isnt everything. I wouldn't do something I didn't like even I'd it paid more... That makes for long miserable days.

I sure hope so, my company just posted a mileage bonus, looks good on paper but you can’t run what you don’t get.

Might be a good idea to get into more niche hauling if you can. There's some good stuff out there, general freight just isn't in it

Man, that's low for LTL anywhere, especially in freaking Kalifornia! I make dang near double that hourly pay with OT after 8, and most LTL outfits start at over .52cpm.

    I hope that's outdated info.

Man, I don't know how you guys do it for low pay. I won't use my cdl for less than 60k yr. Even the illegals charge $10/hr down here at home depot parking lot

From what I have seen, the reason companies do this, is they are trying to get a driver to leave, without having to fire him.
    It generally works too.
