I would second that last recommendation from Chinatown. Nice trucks well maintained normally. I see them all the time on the road (so they seem to stay busy) and at the same refineries we all go too.

I've been looking at reviews for a couple months and it's not looking good. I can't find a decent company. Any advice

    Do you have your cdl?
If so, how much experience do you have?
    Where is your location?

Because he can make it work for him. We know nothing of his financial situation.

Bottom line, it's two things. Your personality and the manager/dispatcher's overall view of you.

I have seen this time and time again, not just with me but all around me everywhere I go. I go anywhere, NYC, snow, day, night, weekends. I don't always get the best loads but will quit if I feel that I am being taken advantage of too much. Others get walked all over and take it. Some are cry babies. " I don't do the city", " I don't drive at night". Some get terminated while others get the best runs every single day. Someone thinks that they are an asset to the company and need to do everything to keep them. I just don't get it but need to roll with the system. I finally realized that it is me not them. I can't or maybe won't change.

Be the best you can be. There are other companies you can go to. Find one that fits. No trucking job is perfect but I have found one that fits my needs. Good luck.

And it's overrated if you are a driver who stays out.

My company didn't have guaranteed pay, I'd stay out 3 months at a time, pay was usually 1300-1800 a week every week. I would then take a week off unpaid, fine with me. I could have kept rolling and sometimes I did.

Then they started guarantee $1000 a week because a lot of drivers take a 3-4 day weekend and end up with a 300-500 dollar paycheck for 2 weeks. Then they get mad about it.

After guaranteed pay started I noticed that I always waited for loads during the week and got shorter loads. My paychecks then also started getting to around 1000-1200 a week every single week. I started considering going home on weekends because why stay out and get the same #### pay?

What is happening is that the guy who spent Fri-Mon at home has 0 miles and will get paid 1000 dollars this week driving 600-1000 miles, and I keep getting my miles because I stayed out, or they give him the miles and short me on miles for the week because I already have 500-1000 miles on Monday.

Which one do you think they go with?

My fleet manager told me he always "gives me the long ones" because I stayed out a third of the year at a time and never call him to socialize he hated those people more than anyone.

However the service department didn't like me because I would leave their truck running for four months straight lol.

My miles were always above 2875 for the month a week meanwhile others would be getting 2100 during Obama years. I would have probably done the same as you if we had a guarantee instead I would drive it into the ground and take a week in the shop... Paid sitting at home. I kept my vacation days and banked off days ;p

But I like your strat. We operate similar lol.
