It’s True balancing in my opinion. If you get on the wrong side of a dispatcher they can make your life a living hell in a real hurry. However, if you’re a pushover, And don’t stand up for yourself when it’s warranted, they will walk all over you. But ####, staying out three months at a time? I stay out about 45 days at a time but I’m thinking of cutting that in half. LOL as much as I like driving, there is more to life than sitting inside an 8 x 8 metal box 350 out of 365 days a year.

Yup. Trucking was never a career for me it was just a job to save money and that I certainly did.
I made it a point to go see or do something cool every two weeks.

Whether that be go see Rushmore or simply fishing off that pier for $20 on the Tampa toll bridge island with house squid. Little stuff but stuff I couldn't do at home ya know.

It's up to drivers goals to :)

I'm in the same boat. Started out good making $900-$1000 a week. Its been $500-600 checks the past month now. I don't know if its still because of COVID or not. I usually stay out 3 weeks. Why the hell should I stay out a month or more if I'm getting crap miles? I'm otr but getting regional miles. I was getting paid almost the same working at a #### warehouse.

All I can say is if it doesn't improve by September I'm looking for something else.

Look up LTLs on your area such as old dominion, estes, saia, fxf and ups freight.

    Good luck.

$62k is good money. Every Driver claims to be making $80-$100k, yet the statistics show it’s about half that amount on average.

There’s no reason anyone can’t get home at least every 10 days, for at least 2-3 days off, and still average 2400 miles a week. Anything less is bad management or they’re just plain ripping you off, running high revenue loads, wasting your time, doing it.

I think it's good money too, I've been out here over a decade and I've yet to see more than around the 60s in a year, and I dont take much time off. I'm on pace to see that same number this year. Those jobs paying 80 - 100k are few and far between. It irks me somewhat to see that so many vets fill the heads of inexperienced drivers with unrealistic expectations. To even gross 1500 in a week, that takes about 3400 miles roughly for me. Those stats you mentioned ain't lying, just some of the drivers that embellish their wages. It's naive to think that every single driver of every single company can north of 2500 miles weekly.

    Quantum Logistics, Montgomery, AL.

    Quantum Logistics |

My cabinet company, Bishop Cabinets, used to have their own trucks, but years ago they spun that off into a separate company: Quantum Logistics. I think they did it for liability reasons.

For 25 years now, they’ve been delivering my cabinets. I saw the same drivers for years. They never complained about the company, only about the idiots in shipping who loaded the trucks.

I’ve known the owner for that long, too. He’s a good guy. Honest. The two reasons I didn’t go with them were that it’s 100% touch freight, and I was trying to get away from heaving cabinets around, and they aren’t a training company.

I watched many drivers retire from that company. They liked Beau a lot. One of the old drivers had a truck fire on the interstate. He barely had enough time to get himself out before it was completely involved. Beau immediately got him a hotel and rental car and replaced all the personal property he lost in the fire, and then paid him for the lost income.

You only have to push the cabinets to the back of the trailer. Dealers like me do the actual unloading. Detention is practically unheard of. I usually had my driver gone in less 45 minutes.

I sheet when I saw this one driver’s brand new Mack Anthem because they usually drive Volvos. This was after I got my CDL and was easily excited about stuff like that.

Bishop plays Christian music while you’re on hold, but fear not. That company actually lives its values. Quantum is of the same mold.

If you like to name-drop, tell him Nate The Cabinet Guy sent you.

    Good luck!
