Are there any companies that don't make you share a hotel room?

Yeah, it was terrible. I sometimes had to sneak to the bathroom! Then when I got back, they'd be like, "next time, don't go to the bathroom unless I've approved it."
I don't think they know how the digestive system works...

pay for your own room, if you already have a CDL, show them that, for a drivers discount.

A few days ago I was debating the subject of SS cards. Part of that debate was me making comments about accountability of my actions. I guess it can be said these 2 subjects have nothing to do with each other. However, in my view, they have everything to do with each other. I will NOT open my personal belongings, my documents, my plastic or my SS card. I'm sorry but unless I place my briefcase and wallet in some kind of a safe they are insecure when I am asleep. If the carrier will not provide a private room I will pay for it. Sharing a room with a stranger is totally unacceptable!

unfortunately, that has been going on for years. i went to Davenport, IA for a possible job with the now defunct PST flatbed (all red volvo's and trailers)..they put me in a room with another guy. i went to the motel desk, showed them my Chauffeur's license (this was what we had as a truck driver's license back then, way before the CDL came along), and i got a private room, at a discount.

I worked for a clothing distributor for a brief period between my flatbed gigs. We were closing one store and opening up another so I had a helper with me on a layover. I thought I'd save the company a few bucks so we got a double instead of separate rooms...
The guy snored all night and in the morning when my alarm went off, he practically ran into the shower. So I had to sit and wait for my "morning leak". Then after my shower, I got to dry off with the hand towels that he left me...
    Never Again!!!

Most of the time the Hotel will charge you half the rate they give the carrier for the room. The last time I went through this the rate was very low. In fact even lower than the hotel truck driver rate! I will say this though, some of the dumps the carriers use I would not stay in for free. I once paid for a 4-star hotel. These are business expenses. I know some don't have the extra cash to do this. I respect this and am very sensitive to it.
