Are there any " Warning signs" for A Jack knife?

    I suppose in 1979 a fella maybe could get by with checking mirrors every 30 seconds. Now it's closer to 3 seconds.

    I'm not wanting to get into a personal tiff here. To use a metaphor, if you only want to play Chopsticks then it's fine to only learn the white keys on the piano. If you want to play Mozart you also need to use the black keys and PRACTICE.

    Not using a Jake when the grades trend toward 20% or more would be dicey at best. Using the Jake braking on only the drive axles would ensure a jackknife unless you also use the trailer axles to hold you back: ie. the trolley brake. They work well together if you PRACTICE.

    Learn to play the entire piano, then no matter what "sheet music" the road (or off road) throws at you, you can handle it.
