Are there companies where I don't have to live with a trainer?

It's soo frickin stupid that you have too ride with a trainer for months to do this stupid job.
It is so far far from rocket science.
I can go for a a 100 ton captains license and be turned loose running a 150 foot vessel with no hands on experience nor guidance , I can obtain the captains license in a few days on my own , a week if I go to a school...
Either you got it or you don't
The fact it takes 8 to 12 weeks to sort that out with some of these companies is insane. -
Try some companies most of us haven't heard of; those smaller outfits. Many of them hire with no experience even though the advertise "experience required." Just walk in and ask for an application and interview.
Calex Logistics in PA; check with them. -
Good grief.....drama queen much? I am a trainer. And honestly take offense at the accusation that a trainer would do that. I've been training for years, a whole bunch of trainees too. And I can tell you POS dirtbag psycho trainees dramatically outnumber trainers like that. Grow up, quit with the unjust accusations and boloney drama, learn what you need to know and get a good start on your career.Texnmidwest, KriegHund, x1Heavy and 4 others Thank this.

Big difference being in Chicago traffic and out in the middle of open water. You don't even know enough to know you don't know enough. Smdh.Texnmidwest Thanks this.

I think Watkins Shepard had a very short training period, like ten days. Not sure if they still do or if they even hire out of CT.

I always say, it's not one big difference between the top driver and the average driver, it's a million little differences. If someone s planning to be a road driver, riding with a trainer allows one to see the subtle differences. There's a thread right now on HOW TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. Do you think @Thull would like to ride shotgun with you as you show him your setup?
No, it's not rocket science, but there is a science to being on top rather than just average. Then again, it's really hard to be average when you have a negative charge too.Last edited: Jul 5, 2016
