will be attending truck driving school soon. i was hoping someone could tell me if there realy are jobs out the for newbies? I was interested in OTR maybe home every 3 weeks. Is this a wise career path with our economy? im currently laid off and dont want to land here again thanks

There will always be job openings because there will always be drivers quitting . All the carriers are reducing their fleets . Werner is reducing their fleet by 400 tractors . J.B. Hunt is running 900 less tractors than they were this time last year . Those facts came from an article on carriers' first quarter reports in the May 15-31 issue of "The Trucker ". Are there jobs ? Yes but 10 times as many applicants as there are openings . But how do the jobs pay ? How about running less than 1500 miles a week for $.24 a mile .
