Look into Cargo Transporters, they're headquarters is in Claremont, NC and they have drop yards in Winston Salem, NC, Rocky Mount, NC, Martinsville, VA and Princeton, WV.
Are there not any good companies?

MrMixon, it sounds like you're letting negative talk get to you. Try this experiment:
Go to your nearest full service truckstop, walk into the restaurant and sit at the counter. You will see two kinds of drivers. One type tells war stories, the other tells horror stories. What's the difference?
Bad Weather
War: Man, drove through a snowstorm last night...was pushing snow with my front bumper when I left Albert Lea. Snow finally let up once I got south of Des Moines,Iowa. But I beat the monster storm that's coming into the area.
Horror: It was a terrible snowstorm. Whole town got slammed. Worst I've ever seen. Only a fool would have been out on the road last night. Been stuck here for 2 days and another storm is heading this way.
The DOT
War: Diesel bears were out in force today. They were having a creeper party at that eastbound scale in Mississippi. They looked real hard at me, but I had hit a skunk 30 miles from the scale, and the DOT got a whiff and waved me on.
Horror: Oh the DOT are gonna be working hard today. Be very afraid!
Job Search
War: I started with Moron Trucking. Stayed there for a bit learned the ropes and got a better job.
Horror: Watch out for that company. I have a friend of a friend of a friend that went there and he almost went broke. They treated him so badly.
CB Radio
War: Yeah, go ahead, eastbound. What's the 20 on all that? Is anybody getting through? 10-4, you're looking good back that way.
Horror: What going on with westbound traffic, eastbound?skellr, chicknwing, mje and 3 others Thank this. -

I feel the same way mix, I have been reading these forums for a few months. Very confusing!!! Just when I think I have found some company I think will work for me , I hear something bad about them. I am not looking to go driving just yet but like to see all my options.
I think the best job would be working for Microsoft driving a virtual truck delivering e-mail. ;>)
Good luck with your search and keep posting, I feel your pain. Lol -
Every company can be a good company. It all depends on YOU. What works for you is what's important not others hearsay.
mje, mixonjr, Ford L8000 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Newbies have to learn the ropes. They damage equipment, they damage freight, they are late, they are more likely to get in an accident, they don't know all the rules and short cuts, etc.
Companies that hire newbies have to have a fair trade off or they might as well hire experienced drivers. They have to pay instructors, trainers, body parts and more mechanics, etc.
The trade off is cheap labor.
There is no way around that.dennisroc, MrBolton88, mje and 2 others Thank this. -
No, I have looked into driving for them but won't be in their hiring area. -
mje Thanks this.

I applied and he told me he didn't know when they would have a trainer open.
mje Thanks this.
