are they going to raise the cargo/liability to like $4 million?

wondering if anyone else has heard about this. I just think about what could happen if this was to happen.

As long as the cost of insurrance wouldn't go up sky high but who would really raise the price 4x to where

someone would be paying like $50k a year for cargo and liability? Or even 40k?

I don't listen to the news anymore so I haven't heard anything.

But what's the specifics and cost on hazmat insurance.

Isn't it about that high or more?

Unless they have changed it the last couple of years, the refinery here requires 2 mil to haul hot oil, I have heard that the fuel haulers, which is big here, it is up to 5 mil.

H.B 3781. Would raise the minimum from 750,000 to 4.8 million if it passes.

From what I have read, the minimum is not yet decided on, but 4,8 mil would be the max.

I do not see either it or hb 3778 passing though, and it has been introduced 3 times, but maybe the third time is the charm.
Even back in the 80's I kept I mil liability on my dump truck, and since 99 have kept 2 mil on my trucks. I have never done the 750,000 thing, and many places require more to work for them anyway, even with a dump truck.

When I did my quote. It was for 1 mill. I didn't specify anything. I just asked.

From what I've been looking at. They want 1 mill also.

Which one is it? Public Liability, currently 750k. Standard requirements are $1 mil.for most Shippers freight. 3-5 mil for hazmat. Cargo? I can’t remember, but maybe $75k minimum, unless exempt cargo is being hauled,100 k standard requirement for general freight.Sounds like the megas are at it again. Being self insured. Their goal is to raise the cost of their Competition. The cost will have to be absorbed in the rates. Until freight tonnage drops, then the pinch will be on. They know this. Constantly lobbying for any law that will benefit themselves. Meanwhile they can’t handle the freight they do have.

Congressman Matt Cartwright from Scranton area is the one who is proposing raising the minimum liability coverage from 750000 to 4.5 million. Funny how he and his wife have profit sharing interests in a law firm that advertises" nations leading truck accident team". I can't believe the balls on this guy to think that it's ok for him to push for laws that would benefit him directly

How do you think the majority of them leave office worth so much more than when they went in?

Show me a politician who doesn't do that. They all get into politics for money and power, and the ones who are honest and don't do it, get disgusted with politics and quit.
