Its required by law.. When a driver changes trucks ask for one.. The carrier is obligated to give you a new one (Its in the green book) If they dont, call FMCSA or your local DOT..

    Holy thread resurrection batman.
Not only is it an old thread, you are flat out wrong.

Oh, and before you say it's in the green book, well you can show where it's at then, so show the regulation. Here's a hint, you won't find it.

When I started way back, Swift would give a new mattress whenever I asked for one.
A cheap 3" foam rolled up in plastic that I had to unfold and get flat before I could actually use it.

    Not now.
Now they are 8 inches thick and solid. A pain to get into the bunk, but a very nice mattress.
The only way is to vent the air from the passenger seat for clearance, and a little planning so that once it is in I can position it top side up.

And I can still go into any shop, and be given one just for the asking.

I could come in here and say a Carrier is required by law to put a mint in the bunk for the driver and provide coffee and say it's in the green book. I for one simply don't believe you and am going to call BS on this UNTIL YOU LINK THE THE SECTION! If I am wrong I am wrong, SHOW ME WHERE I AM WRONG! And LINK IT!

I was in a rather foul mood when I wrote that comment. Keri was crying and I really should not have been online. The thing is there might be situations where a carrier is mandated to replace a mattress because of a Union CBA or some state or local health code rule. The main thrust of my comment is to the best of my knowledge there are no rules in title 49 CFR that covers this. Because it is next to impossible to prove a negative all I can do is call BS on it and ask for a link. I don't want the person to feel bad because most likely they are just repeating something they heard at some truck stop coffee counter or at some terminal breakroom.

I remember several years ago some Schneider drivers were posting about bed bugs.
